After the incredible trip to Nabha, I spent all of day 7 regaining my energy for the trip to Amritsar to the Golden Temple on day 8. My grandparents, my grandma’s brother, and I took the trip there. My grandparents and I had to wake up at around 5:30 and quickly shower and grab anything we needed before we got dropped at the train station and rode the 4 hour train to Amritsar. The one thing I can say about Amritsar is that it is hot. Too hot. I can’t complain about California being hot anymore, this is real heat. After we got Amritsar we were dropped by a friend of my grandma’s brother to a restaurant where we had some lunch and cooled off.
Afterwards, we took a scooter rickshaw to the Golden Temple and walked into the temple. The rickshaw ride itself was a pretty cool experience, I had never ridden in one before. Once we entered the temple we had to drop off our shoes because in the temple you have to walk barefoot on the blistering hot marble. You also have to cover your head with something because of the religion. Once we dropped of our shoes we walked a circle around the temple itself which is on the water and there is a large line to enter it. We walked the circle and we would have entered the temple on the water but we didn’t have much time before the train ride back to Chandigarh so we took a scooter rickshaw back to the restaurant we were earlier, fueled up on some coffee, and took a taxi to the station. We took the train back and when we arrived in Chandigarh I just ate dinner and went to sleep. The Golden temple was definitely something worth seeing and if I had more time I would have liked to see more of it.
